There are two kinds of naivete': one which is not yet aware of all the problems and has not yet knocked at all the doors of knowledge; and another, a higher kind, which is the result of philosophy having looked into all problems, having sought counsel in all the spheres of knowledge, and then having come to see that we cannot explain anything but have to follow convictions whose inherent value appeals to us in an irresistible way.

(Association Internationale de l'oeuvre du docteur Albert Schweitzer de Lambaréné)
The aim of the AISL (Association International de l'oeuvre du Dr. Albert Schweitzer de Lambaréné) is to disseminate information about the life and the thought of Albert Schweitzer and to maintain his legacy.
In the house of Albert Schweitzer in Gunsbach we have a small Museum and an Archive. On a guided tour you will be introduced to the life of Albert Schweitzer
In our time, his ethic of "reverence for life" is of increasing importance.
On our homepage you can find information about Schweitzer and the jungle Hospital in Lambaréné, as well as references to the national fellowships and friends, to books and publications and to an international calendar of events.
To continue the work and spread the message of Schweitzer, we have many volunters who help us. But to meet the running of all our activities we also need your help. If you are able to help us, please contact us or your national committee of friends, or make a donation via the internet.
In the folder news we try to give you uptodate information about the work, recently published books and infos about the Hospital in Lambaréné.
