European Heritage Days

The European Heritage Days, an event celebrated throughout Europe, are an opportunity to discover the treasures of our cultural heritage free of charge. On September 21 and 22, 2024, the Maison Albert Schweitzer in Gunsbach will be opening its doors free of charge for three unique tours.

  1. The “classic” guided tour of the House, Saturday September 21 at 10am:
    Immerse yourself in the world of Albert Schweitzer as you explore the museum and restored house, filled with surprises and anecdotes about this great man.
  2. The “feminist” guided tour, Saturday September 21 at 2.30pm:
    Discover the women who shaped Albert Schweitzer’s life and contributed to his work. An opportunity to celebrate these often forgotten female figures.
  3. Guided tour of Albert Schweitzer and Hélène Bresslau during the two World Wars, Sunday September 22 at 10am:
    Explore how world conflicts influenced the thinking and actions of Albert Schweitzer and his wife, Hélène Bresslau, as well as their fight against the atomic bomb.
