Strasbourg Organ Day with Daniel Maurer – October 5, 2024

On October 5, 2024, Strasbourg will host an exceptional day dedicated to the organ, organized by the Albert Schweitzer European Organ Academy (EOA) of Königsfeld in the Black Forest. This event is a unique opportunity to discover the city’s historic Silbermann organs, guided by the expertise of Daniel Maurer.

An immersive day on Silbermann organs

Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of organ music through visits, discussions and performances on three remarkable organs:

  • Morning at Sainte-Aurélie church / Andreas Silbermann organ, built in 1718 and restored by Quentin Blumenroeder in 2015.
  • Early afternoon at Saint-Thomas church; Johann Andreas Silbermann organ, built in 1741, restored by Alfred Kern in 1979 and overhauled by Quentin Blumenroeder in 2009. The 1905 Daltsein-Haerpfer choir organ, restored in 2001, will also be presented.
  • Late afternoon at Saint-Pierre le Jeune church. Johann Andreas Silbermann organ from 1780, restored by Alfred Kern in 1966 and overhauled in 2014.
    Between these musical moments, participants can enjoy an enriching walk between Strasbourg Cathedral (Münster) and the Madeleine Church. Johann Andreas Silbermann organ from 1780, restored by Alfred Kern in 1966 and overhauled in 2014.
